Our approach

Kidgency is built around a different idea: a child develops soft skills through experience, not explanation. Our methodology is a synthesis of evidence-based psychology, neuroscience and game mechanics.

Methodology

Six principles behind every lesson.

1
Immersive simulation, not theory
Children are placed in realistic social scenarios where they must make decisions under time pressure or social weight. Skills and confidence are built through experiential learning — active doing, not passive listening. The brain forms durable neural pathways through action.
2
The avatar system
Each child creates a digital avatar through which they explore difficult emotions and conflicts. Projecting onto a third-person character removes the fear of being judged, develops perspective-taking, and turns inner work into a game with measurable progress.
3
Aligned with brain development
The programme is timed to the critical neurological windows of ages 8–14: synaptic pruning ("use it or lose it") and the maturation of the prefrontal cortex. Targeted load on communication and self-regulation precisely when those circuits are being shaped.
4
Facilitation, not authority
No marks, no tests, no single correct answer. Lessons are run by educators with degrees in psychology or pedagogy. They aren't the boss in front of a class — they are facilitators who guide the group while keeping the space safe enough for genuine experiment.
5
Family as a system
A child is part of a family system, not an isolated learner. We include short joint exercises so the skill transfers from the lesson into ordinary life at home. Parents become allies in the child's development rather than only supervisors of homework.
6
Designed for short attention spans
Modern children think in clips — average focus around 8–10 seconds. We don't fight that; we design with it. Interactive presentations, short cycles of stimulus and response, and a monthly metaverse session keep the child in the active zone instead of drifting away.

How it works

Practice, not theory.

Soft skills are built by doing, not listening. The structure is built around weekly practice, real homework, and a monthly group challenge.

01 — Weekly
One online lesson per week
Sixty minutes, live, in a small group. Same teacher, same children, same time each week. The consistency is what turns lessons into habits.
02 — Practice
Tasks for the child between lessons
Short, real-life exercises after each session. The lesson plants the seed; the homework is what makes it grow.
03 — Family
Tasks for the whole family
A child's behaviour reflects the system around them. Each month includes simple activities for the whole family to do together.
04 — Game
Monthly metaverse session
Once a month, the children meet in a private gamified environment to apply that month's skill in a story-driven challenge. Moderated by our teachers — fully safeguarded.
The teachers

Mentors, not entertainers.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What if my child changes their mind in the first few weeks?
For the 6 and 12-month plans, you have a 30-day money-back guarantee. For the 3-month plan — 14 days. Reply to any of our emails and we'll issue a full refund. (The 1-month plan is short enough that we don't add a refund window — but you can simply not renew.)
Will it be the same teacher we met at the trial?
Wherever possible, yes. We try to keep your child with the same teacher and the same group throughout the programme. If a teacher is unavailable for a specific week, a colleague will cover, and we'll let you know in advance.
What if the lesson time stops working for us?
Reply to any email or write to hello@kidgency.com. We have several groups running each week, so most rescheduling is straightforward.
My child is unwell or we're away — what happens to the missed lesson?
Let us know in advance and we'll either send the recording of that session or place your child in another group's lesson on the same week. We don't penalise families for life happening.
How many children are in the group?
Up to four children of similar age. Small enough that every child gets attention and a chance to speak, with group dynamics that still feel real.
Can I pay monthly instead of upfront?
Yes — the 1-month plan is exactly that. You can renew month by month if you prefer that flexibility. Most families find the longer plans more economical.
What's the metaverse game and is it safe?
A private, child-friendly virtual environment our team built specifically for the programme. Once a month, the children apply that month's skill in a story-driven challenge. Moderated by our teachers — no random users, no chat with strangers.
What technical setup does my child need?
A laptop, tablet or computer with a working camera and microphone, plus a stable internet connection. Headphones help. Zoom (free) is the platform.
How do I know my child is making progress?
Three ways. The Skill Map is updated every three months, showing concrete growth across the four skill areas. Your child will tell you. And you'll see it at home — in conversations, in how they handle frustration, in friendships.
Is the programme suitable for shy or anxious children?
Yes. Many of the children who benefit most are the ones who don't speak up at school. The format is small group, the same faces every week, a teacher who knows them. Children open up at their own pace.
Do you have experience with children who have additional needs?
Yes. Several of our teachers have backgrounds in psychology, CBT and supporting children with special educational needs. If your child has a specific diagnosis, reply to us before enrolling — we'll have a quick conversation to make sure we're the right fit.
What happens after the 12 months?
Some families move on. Others continue with us for a second year of deeper work. We'll talk about it together as the programme progresses.
Is my child's data and online safety taken seriously?
Yes. We follow UK GDPR and the ICO Children’s Code. Sessions are run by vetted teachers in private Zoom rooms with waiting rooms enabled. We minimise the data we collect, never use your child’s information for marketing, and delete recordings after their use is no longer needed.
